- 1). Lay the pieces of the fishing pole in front of you.
- 2). Select the bottom piece, which includes the spot where the fishing reel is or will be attached.
- 3). If your rod has three pieces, select the middle piece, which includes neither the rod butt nor the rod tip. Insert the larger end of it into the end of the bottom piece and make sure the line guides line up with where the fishing line comes off the reel.
- 4). Select the top piece of the fishing pole, which includes the rod tip. If your rod has three pieces, insert the end of the top piece (the end opposite the rod tip) into the end of the middle piece. Make sure the line guides line up with one another. If your rod has only two pieces, insert the end of the top piece into the end of the bottom piece. Again, make sure the line guides line up with where the fishing line comes off the reel.
- 5). Ensure all of the connections are tight and that all line guides are in line with each other.
