- 1). Download the Recovery Console ZIP archive (see Resources section). Click "How to create a bootable CD to access the Recovery Console" on the Web page that loads. It is located about halfway down the links list at the top of the page.
- 2). Unzip the download when complete. Many free programs will do this, such as the popular WinZip (see Resources section). A new window will open containing an ISO file. This is a disc image, which allows you to write the CD.
- 3). Save the unzipped ISO file to your hard drive.
- 4). Insert a blank CD into your computer.
- 5). Burn the ISO file to the CD. Do not put anything except the single ISO file on the disc. When the process is complete, eject the disc and put it aside in case of emergency.
