How to Back Up a Locked QuickBooks
- 1). Plug the cable from the external hard drive into the USB port on the side of your computer.
- 2). Click the Windows orb and click "Control Panel." Click the "Backup and Restore" option under the System and Maintenance section. Click the "Set Up Backup" link in the interface that appears.
- 3). Click the "External Hard Drive" option in the destination window of the backup wizard. Click "Next" to open a file selection wizard. Scroll through the list of files and click the folder or drive that stores the QuickBooks files. Click "Next."
- 4). Click "Save Settings and Run Backup" in the window that appears to back up the QuickBooks files to the external hard drive.
