Function

• Some men interested in building muscle look to nutritional, vitamin or hormonal supplements to aid in their recovery and amplify their fitness gains. Halotest-25 was created by PowerLab Nutrition as an OTC prohormone supplement. PowerLab Nutrition claims that "Halotest-25 promotes rapid muscle size and strength, increases energy levels and libido, and won't convert to estrogen."
  
  Halotest-25 was developed to act as a prohormone supplement and increase the body's ability to produce testosterone. According to the article "What is Testosterone?" published on Androgel.com, "Testosterone is found in mammals and maintains sex drive, sexual function, muscle mass, strength, mood and energy levels."
  
  The last product claim is important because if a testosterone boosting supplement like Halotest-25 were to convert to estrogen inside of the body, the male user would find oneself losing muscle, developing female like features, and storing body fat rather than increasing lean muscle mass.
  
  

Background

• Halotest-25 may sound familiar to some who have come across the product name Halodrol-50. Halodrol-50, manufactured by Gaspari Nutrition, was classified as an illegal steroid by the federal government because of its potency. Halotest-25 does not currently have the same potency as Halodrol-50 and is not considered illegal. Local state laws and bans for such products can change without public notice making products that are legal in some states illegal in others.
  
  

External Side Effects

• The manufacturer of Halotest-25 indicates that the potential side effects of its product are low. Some users may find that with the body's internal rise in testosterone they might see some skin blemishes or zits. The manufacturer does not offer a treatment option for skin blemishes while taking Halotest-25. PowerLab Nutrition only suggests that the blemishes or zits will cease after discontinuing the use of the product.
  
  

Internal Side Effects

• Halotest-25 is considered to be hepatoxic (a compound that increases liver values). High liver values is a sign that the liver is under a lot of stress as it filters the body of it's ingested compounds.
  
  Thus, as Halotest-25 is methylated (the addition of methyl group to a compound's chemical structure) it will need to pass through the liver a few times each time you ingest it for the liver to metabolize the compound and allow the body to absorb it. This is where the stress on the liver occurs over time.

• Most, if not all prohormone supplement products come with an 18-or-older advisory regarding the age of the person who can consume the product and experience little or no side effects. Long-term hormone imbalances can occur if such a product is consumed when the user's endogenous (internal) hormone production has not matured.
