- 1). Launch Windows Registry Editor from the Start menu. Click the "Run..." tool from the Start menu and type "regedit" without the quotes. Press "Enter."
- 2). Navigate to the following path in the left pane of the Registry Editor: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager.
- 3). Right-click "DisableScandiskOnBoot" on the right pane. Select "Modify."
- 4). Type "01" under "Value data."
- 5). Close down Registry Editor. Reboot your computer. The ScanDisk utility will not launch during the boot process.
