    Art Shows

    • Camano Island's two major arts organizations -- Camano Arts Association and the Stanwood Camano Arts Guild -- hosts art shows throughout the year. Stanwood Camano kicks off the island's art festival season with the Art Aloft show in February. Art Aloft occurs in the Stanwood Masonic Center Hall and features artwork from members of the guild. On Mothers Day weekend, CAA sponsors the Camano Island Studio Tour, which also displays local artwork. This event also occurs on the second weekend of May. Arts by the Bay, Stanwood Camano's second festival, is a weekend event in July and features more than 100 pieces from Northwest artists.

    Recreation

    • Camano Island State Park is on the western shores of the island. This 134-acre park features campsites for RVs and tents, picnicking areas and more than one mile of shoreline on Puget Sound. The park is open year-round for camping, although some campsites are closed in the winter. At the end of February, Camano Island hosts the annual Port Susan Snow Goose and Birding Festival. During this season, visitors have opportunities to see snow geese that stop on Camano Island as a part of the yearly migratory cycle. Camano Island is also home to 200 other bird species, including bald eagles, ospreys, gadwalls and woodpeckers.

    Festivals

    • The Stanwood Camano Community Fair happens at Stanwood Camano Community Fairgrounds in Stanwood on the first weekend of August. This three-day event features the Viking Main Stage, where bands perform. Dance and comedy acts perform on the festival's Performance Stage. Other SCCF activities are the downtown Stanwood parade and the carnival, which has rides and food vendors. In September, Camano Island's farmers allow visitors to tour their grounds as part of the Harvest Jubilee. The purpose of this festival is to raise awareness for the region's agricultural heritage. Hay rides, pumpkin carving and buying produce are some of this festival's activities.

    Golf

    • The only golf course on Camano Island is the Camaloch Golf Course. This 18-hole course is on the northern end of Camano Island. Founded in 1967, the Camaloch Golf Course was partially developed by members of the Camaloch Association, whose membership is primary Camano Island residents. The Kayak Point Golf Course in Stanwood is less than 10 minutes from Camano Island. This 260-acre course is larger than Camaloch and has 18 holes.
