It is important to spot the signs that your child is becoming a fussy eater so you can prevent it.
This article offers some ways in which parents and carers can spot the signs.
What makes a child a fussy eater? There is bound to be some food types that a toddler or child will not like.
It is natural to dislike things and we all have preferences regarding the food we eat.
There is little point in making young children eat food that they just don't like If you succeed in getting them to eat something that they dislike it does not mean next time they will now like it, in fact the case may be that they dislike it even more.
Their tastes may change over time and some days they'll have an appetite for food that other days they may not.
Because the child has likes and dislikes when it comes to food it does not mean that they are a fussy eater.
A fussy eater is different, they will have a growing list of foods that they dislike and the list will get longer and longer every day until there will be just a small handful of foods that they are willing to eat.
If the child has siblings you may find that they also become fussy eaters too and before you know it they will all be fussy eaters and you will be preparing different meals for each of them.
This will become even more of a challenge when eating outside the house at a friends or relatives.
The best cure for fussy eating is prevention.
Spot the signs early on and nip it in the bud before the child begins to control mealtimes and the food the food you can prepare.
