How to Troubleshoot Water From the Freezer in Whirlpool Refrigerators
- 1). Check the power cord and make sure the cord is completely plugged into the Whirlpool refrigerator and the unit is turned "ON." Replace or reset the circuit breaker as needed.
- 2). Look at the water supply line behind the refrigerator. Tighten any loose connections that may be causing a leak.
- 3). Replace the filter in the reverse osmosis filter, if a reverse osmosis filter is connected to the system. A blocked filter may cause reduced water pressure and result in leaking.
- 4). Remove any ice cubes that may be caught in the ice dispenser with a plastic utensil; the melting ice cubes may cause water to drip down.
- 5). Hold glasses or containers under the water dispenser for a few seconds after releasing the water lever to allow the water to finish dispensing. Water or ice may leak from the dispenser for a few seconds after releasing the lever.
- 6). Place a container under the lever and dispense water for two or three minutes after replacing the water filter or initial water installation to flush debris from the water line and prevent leaking.
- 7). Contact a service professional if the steps above do not resolve the issue.
