How to Remove Windows Update Manager

    • 1). Click the "Start" button at the bottom left corner of your computer's taskbar. Scroll up and click "Control Panel." Click the "Performance and Maintenance" icon if you're using Windows XP or older or click "System and Security" if using Windows Vista or Windows 7.

    • 2). Click the "System" icon if you're using Windows XP and older and then click the "Automatic Updates" tab. If you're using Windows Vista or Windows 7, click "Turn automatic updating on or off" underneath the "Windows Update" heading.

    • 3). Click the option that reads "Turn off automatic updating. I want to update my computer manually" if you're using Windows XP or older. If you're using Windows Vista or Windows 7, change the option on the drop-down menu from "Install Updates Automatically (recommended)" to "Never check for updates (not recommended)." Click "OK."

    • 4). Click "View installed updates" under the "Windows Update" heading to view any previous updates that Windows Update performed. To uninstall a certain update, click the update and then click the "Uninstall" button at the top of the list.
