- 1). Read and understand the TSA restrictions for items that you cannot carry onto a plane in a carry-on.
- 2). Roll up any clothes you need to pack. Rolling the clothing items instead of folding creates more space as well as decreases wrinkles.
- 3). Make sure all of your liquid items are in three-ounce or smaller containers. The containers do not have to be labeled, so if something you need is bigger than three ounces, you can pour it into a three-ounce bottle. Travel size products and spare bottles are sold at almost any drugstore. Your liquid items must all be in a one-quart or smaller zip bag.
- 4). Pack the heaviest items on the bottom of the bag. Shoes should go on the bottom then the next heaviest item, and so on. This will help reduce wrinkling as well.
- 5). After packing all shoes and clothing items, place the one-quart zip bag on top. Security scans this separately and it should be easily accessible.
- 6). Make sure your bag will close completely. If not, take out any items that are not completely necessary for your trip. Any required travel documents should also be easily accessible.
