Colic Relief is a Reality

Babies that are in need of colic relief are not only in discomfort themselves but it spills over to the discomfort of the parents by way of anxiety and frustration.
I have found that parents that are experienced by having had other children in the past with colic certainly know basically what to expect and do not panic as easily.
They soon came to learn that there were some things they could do to provide colic relief.
That does not mean to say that they are not on guard watching to see if there are other possible causes for the symptoms that the colic seems to be putting forth.
I know from firsthand experience that for new parents it can be a devastating time for them trying to find remedies for colic.
Mostly because they do not know how babies react and they have not come to be able to recognize yet the different symptoms of what is going on with the baby in regards to their display of hunger being tired or being in pain.
After all we experienced Moms were all new Mothers once and it was by trial and error that we sought out colic relief.
Baby colic is something where you basically have to weather out the storm and it normally just goes away on its own.
I can remember way back when (not giving away my age of course) that cures for colic were usually based on the advice of our parents.
However there are different levels of baby colic and there is some colic relief available.
I can recall years ago that my grandmother would sit in a rocking chair and rock one of the infants gently whilst the baby is smuggled in a blanket and this seemed to appease the babies somewhat and afford some colic relief.
The consensus of this used to be it was grandma's touch that provided the colic relief but according to today's standards it would seem that it is the motion that can help as a colic treatment.
Whether it is because it takes the baby's mind off of the discomfort or helps to relieve the infant colic itself is not quite known as yet.
I personally like to believe that grandma's touch had something to do with it.
Probably another support of colic relief by movement would be when a parent is anxious and they are holding the colicky infant.
I know in the beginning I would often bounce my colicky babies around a little bit out of desperation of not knowing what to do.
Much to my relief this in itself again seemed to provide some colic relief for my little one.
There are lots of ways that you can provide movement for your baby as a means of colic relief and again it will come down to at what time of day the infant colic seems to be at its worst.
Some colicky babies have their colic in the morning or afternoon and many suffer infant colic in the latter part of the evening.
So as I mentioned the rocking chair is one reliable source for colic relief.
If this does not work and the infant colic seems to be so severe that they just can not seem to get comfortable or relax with the motion then you could try putting the baby in a car seat and going for a short drive.
Usually once you get the colicky baby to sleep the colic episode has passed and you have gotten through another night.
If rocking is out because you have other children to tend to and it is not possible to take the baby for drive, which I could not, but I found that the infant swing was a great colic treatment.
Put the colicky baby in the swing and just let the motion of the swing soothe the baby.
The important thing to remember is that baby colic is not something that lasts too long although some babies will be stuck with it up to three or four months and the odd one even longer.
Coping with colic is not easy but there is colic relief in different forms, it is just a matter of finding what works for your little one.
