Top Birthday Activity Ideas for Men

105 25
In South Africa we are blessed with the finest weather and a diverse, attractive landscape that offers a full range of top birthday activity ideas for men. Whether it's the big blue ocean, the expansive skies, the crystal clear streams or the hubbub of the race track that beckons, South Africa has it all.

The lure of the little, white ball

Nothing appears to seduce men more, apart from women of course, than the lure of the dimpled white ball. Fortunately, South Africa is literally chock-a-block with pristine golf courses and estates.

Some are carved out of the African bush with hazards more bestial in nature than the Royal and Ancient can ever hope to emulate, while others have been constructed on rolling hills above the tempestuous Indian and Atlantic Oceans - the local version of links.

Once the location has been chosen then it's a question of a quick flight from Cape Town, Durban, Port Elizabeth or Johannesburg. On landing, the birthday boy and friends will be collected and transferred to the preferred championship course for a round of golf.

Once the birdies, bogeys and occasional eagles have been carded, it's off to one of the top restaurants on the leader board for a meal to remember, resplendent with some of the Cape's finest wines.

Formula One fantasy

If the roar of the racetrack and the acrid smell of burning rubber is his preferred aroma, then round him up, together with his best buds, for a day at the races. Nothing is quite like the sensual thrill of the purest form of motor racing - Formula One - and every man has secret fantasies of becoming the next Senna, Schumacher or Button.

Whether its Kyalami, Zwartkops or Killarney, the boys can put foot and experience the raw power of serious speed. A range of racing cars is at hand, from customised sedan cars to the stallion of motor vehicles, the F1 Racing car. Don the suit and drive an F1 car by participating in a genuine race or simply cruise around the track at full throttle.

Fly-fishing without the guilt

If track racing appears to be more of a 'fear factor' than a 'fun factor' for the man in your life, head for the hills, where bubbling streams are thick with bass and trout. Learn the finer points of fly-fishing, where the fish may well be his quarry but not his lunch - catch-and-release practices are generally followed by the fly-fishing faithful.

After a day in the sun, a sumptuous picnic lunch that includes some locally brewed ale should lift his spirits after yet another year is checked off for good.
