Madison Stuff Exchange
Spring cleaning can happen during any season of year, and sometimes what we want to get rid of has value to others. Having a garage sale is one option. Another is to sell – and shop – The Madison Stuff Exchange.
The online store lists items that are being sold by Madison residents for no more than $99. Some listings are for items (furniture to appliances) being given away.
The eclectic offering recently included a leg cast cover for $12, guitar for $30, stationary bicycle for $50 and Amish-made bread box for $75.
People who sell items are required to set up an account and register with the Exchange, but anybody – in or outside of Madison – may browse the listings. The city does not get involved with these transactions; it merely provides the online structure for matches between seller and buyer.
The network is one recycling project of many in Madison. For city residents, the best rulebook is the Recyclopedia.
