How to Infuse Anointing Oil With Frankincense

104 3

    Double Boiler Method

    • 1). Purchase frankincense resin from a reputable dealer in aromatic resins or essential oils.

    • 2). Add water to one of the small pots. This will be the bottom part of the double boiler. Then add your carrier oil to the other pot and place it onto the pot full of water so that the water comes half-way up the top pot

    • 3). Place two ounces of the carrier oil into the top pot. Then add the frankincense resin or drops of the frankincense essential oil. The amount of resin or drops you use varies according to anointing oil recipes.

    • 4). Turn the heat under the bottom pot to low and slowly heat the oils, stirring the pot occasionally. Let it simmer slightly for 30 minutes to an hour. When it is done, strain the oil through cheesecloth and pour it into a small bottle.

    Slow Cooker Method

    • 1). Check your slow cooker and ensure that it has a suitably low level of heat. Infusing a substance into an oil is slow, but you don't want it to burn. Some slow cookers heat at too high a heat level to be used for this purpose.

    • 2). Drizzle the two ounces of carrier oil and the frankincense resin or oil into the slow cooker.

    • 3). Turn the heat to low and set a timer to remind yourself to stir it occasionally while it infuses the aromatic frankincense.

    • 4). Infuse the frankincense resin or oil in the slow cooker for two to four hours. Then strain and bottle your anointing oil.
