How to Change Folders in Windows Media Center

    • 1). Rename your folder. To do this, right-click on the folder and select "Rename" from the context menu. Type in a new name and hit "Enter."

    • 2). Modify your folder attributes. To do this, right-click on the folder and select "Properties" from the context menu. Click to check or uncheck the boxes to enable the "Read-only," "Hidden," "Compressed" and "Encrypted" attributes (click the "Advanced" button to view the compression and encryption options).

    • 3). Change your folder icon or picture settings. To do this, click on the "Customize" tab in the folder properties window. To choose a picture, click on the "Choose Picture" button and navigate to the desired picture. To change the icon, click the "Change Icon" button and select an icon from the list of available icons.

    • 4). Change your folder template. To do this, open the drop-down menu (still in the "Customize" tab) under "What kind of folder do you want?" and select your template (e.g. documents, pictures, video, music).

    • 5). Change your folder sharing settings. To do this, click on the "Sharing" tab in the folder properties window. Click to check or uncheck the boxes for "Make this folder private" (not shared) or "Share this folder on the network" (shared).

    • 6). Save your folder changes. To do this, click "Apply," then "OK." You have now successfully changed your folder in Microsoft Windows XP Media Center.
