They say that nothing in life is simple and that is certainly true when it comes to deciding what type of diamond you should go for. There are many different ways that jewellers can cut a diamond and each way has its own characteristics. With the modern trend of wanting to have an antique look, it might be worth considering one of the oldest diamond cuts.

Cushion cut diamonds have been around for the best part of two hundred years and they were the most popular cut for the first century that they had been in existence.

Cutting techniques researched by Marcel Tolkowski in the 1920s, paved the way for the resurgence in the popularity cushion_cut loose diamonds, with many buyers being attracted to its antique appearance. Modern cushion_cut diamonds are likely to have one of three basic pavilion facet patterns and which one you choose will obviously be dictated by personal choice.

It is worth noting that cushion cut diamonds are not generally found in smaller sizes and, therefore, you may have difficulty in obtaining a cushion cut diamond under one carat.

Once you have purchased your cushion cut diamond all you have to decide on is how you want it set.
