How to Caulk a Frameless Shower Door
- 1). Clean your frameless shower thoroughly. Use a standard bathroom cleaner and a scrub brush to remove any surface debris. If you see mildew, use a mildew remover as well.
- 2). Rinse down the shower with clean water. Allow it to dry completely.
- 3). Use a waterproof silicone caulk on your frameless shower door. This type of caulk will block out moisture and prevent water damage. If you purchase caulk in a tube, you do not need a caulking gun.
- 4). Open the frameless shower door. Apply the caulk around the top and bottom seams of the door. Set the tip of the tube of caulk against the surface at a 45-degree angle. Use a smooth, steady motion and try not to lift up while applying the caulk until you reach the end of the section. With a framed shower door, you can caulk along the sides of the door and not just the top and bottom, but a frameless shower door is more limited.
- 5). Allow the caulk to set for about five minutes and then smooth out with a damp sponge.
- 6). Wait 24 hours before closing the door or using the frameless shower to allow the caulk to completely cure.
