Just a spoon full of poison helps the medicine go down

Last year Medicine killed more people than in motor accidents. ABC reported in 2009 that an estimated 37, 485 people died or suffered brain damage due to long term prescription drug use. "Surpassing the toll of traffic accidents by 1,201."
And this is a guestimate, The CDC will publish in December the official statistics with the death toll likely to rise. Interestingly this figure of 37,485 has killed more than any terrorist attack for the year, whilst in Afghanistan in 2009 the main stream media were getting all excited about the associated press reporting American military deaths were up from 151 deaths on the previous year (2008) taking it to a total for the year 2009 to 304 deaths.

To highlight this unprecedented event further, these death totals of 37,485 amount to 68 jumbo jets with 550 passengers on board crashing in one year. Imagine the outcry, the main stream media would be jumping around the news room like a rabid dog, yet very little is mentioned.
Clearly the trial of Dr. Conrad Murray has made some impact, but not for the right reasons, had he had not been Michael Jackson's doctor this would have been another death gone unreported.
So clearly we have a problem with Medicine. No-one would dispute that it does save some lives, quite often though for non-life threatening conditions drugs are not necessary, if time is on your side then there are many safe natural products available, many deriving from rain forest plantation which big pharma uses to synthesis into their toxic, addictive poisons.

The root of the problem lies within the system. It's all about the money. In order take medicine you need to "medicalize" a healthy person. Heart burn is now acid reflux disease. Migraines are classified as a genetic neurological disease, whilst long term stress is now generalized anxiety disorder.

Furthermore new research coming out of Mount Sinai hospital showed that 6.7Billion dollars is spent on unnecessary treatments and tests with 86% of that cost attributed to the prescription of brand-name statins to treat high cholesterol.
The remaining costs were broken down to as follows:
(direct quotes)

During physical exams, more than half of complete blood work ordered was not needed, resulting in more than $32 million in excess costs.

Unnecessary bone density scans in younger women accounted for more than $527 million.
CT scans, MRIs, or X-Rays in people presenting with back pain accounted for $175 million in excess healthcare costs.

Over-prescription of antibiotics for sore throat in children, excluding cases of strep throat or fever, accounted for $116 million in unnecessary costs.

Other excess costs included needless annual echocardiograms, urine testing, pap tests, and paediatric cough medicine prescriptions.

In the meantime The Big phrama bandwagon rolls on, profits are up, the government collects taxes, hospitals are full, the government collects taxes, Doctors sell more drugs, the government collects even more taxes, funeral directors get busier, and the government collects yet more tax!
