A Few Concerns About Stress
Look around yourself and you will probably see a whole host of stressed out people.
We have demands on our time, our wallets and our emotions and some of them seem to be exerting more pressure than we can long stand.
The toll it takes on our bodies can be devastating, but what can we do? Everything from asthma attacks to sleep disorders can be a result of trying to ignore stress in the hopes that it will go away.
There isn't a system in your body that is not touched and possibly damaged by this problem.
Here are a few concerns.
Asthma: If you are an asthmatic under a lot of pressure, the two conditions can play off of each other and make matters much worse.
That's because the beginning of an asthma attack and the beginning of a panic attack have the same symptoms.
The question of which started first is a lot like the question "which came first, the chicken or the egg?" Cancer: There is a distinct link between cancer and chronic high tension.
The reasons are still being debated, but two possible reasons are an immune system weakened by this pressure and the release of stress hormones.
Infertility: This debate has been going on for decades.
When the newer fertility treatments came out, the scientists put it on the back burner for a while.
Now it is being studied again, and the suspicion is that up to thirty percent of the patients with fertility issues have them due to high stress.
Obesity: A hormone called cortisol is released when you are under a lot of pressure.
This hormone is thought to be a primary cause of abdominal fat in some people.
Even if you exercise and eat a healthy diet, it is possible that you will gain weight or develop a big belly.
Sleep Issues: Insomnia and sleep apnea can be results from overloads.
You may stay awake all night thinking about what is going on in your life, how to change it and recriminations about things you felt you handled badly.
Once asleep, you may have difficulty staying that way, due to a stop in breathing.
The latter can be deadly.
If you see any of these effects in your life, it is time to see your doctor and/or a qualified herbal practitioner.
There are many things that can be done, both medically and with home remedies, that could help you avoid further damage to your body.
