• There are a number of books that offer anything from specific lesson instructions in a single part (such as building inter-related spreadsheets) to complete tutorials, starting from first opening the program. Popular brands are the Sams series, the Dummies series and the Complete Idiot's series.
  
  

DVDs

• DVDs on how to use Excel can be purchased online or even through ads on TV. You should be able to find them at your local library, as well.
  
  

Online

• Online courses are also available for Microsoft Excel tutorials and lessons. These are often self-paced and work through Flash or another Web-based animation program. They allow you to practice using Excel with limited functionality so that you aren't overwhelmed.
  
  

Microsoft

• Microsoft offers its own training, either through classes taught by Microsoft certified instructors or a tutorial book. In addition, you can take an exam to become a Microsoft Certified Application Specialist in Excel 2007 (see Resources).
  
  

Continuing Education

• Sometimes also called "workforce development," continuing education classes are offered through colleges and high schools for adult education. The cost is normally nominal, and the classes are offered on evenings and weekends.
  
  

Credit Classes

• If you are looking to get a degree, you may want to check with local colleges and universities to see if they offer credit classes in Microsoft Excel. Many degree programs (both associate's and bachelor's) require at least one computer application course.
  
  

Advanced Training

• In order to use the more advanced functions, you may want to get advanced training. Advanced training includes topics such as VBA programming and macros. You may need to learn how to do basic computer programming.
