Anxiety Attack and Panic Attack Cures

Living with anxiety and panic attacks can be unbearable. The symptoms differ from person to person and many times an individual does not believe the feelings of anxiety or panic are mental issues but a physical ones. If these feelings are accepted as physical issues, it may be even more difficult to accept the mental aspect, due to the fact that they do not know how to control the attacks.

Symptoms of anxiety or panic are widespread. They range from physical symptoms such as heart palpitations and sweating to mental symptoms including fear of death and feelings of doom.

There is assistance your physician can bring you, however it may not thwart the problem altogether. Here are some additional tips on dealing with panic and anxiety attacks.

Breathing correctly is crucial when dealing with panic and anxiety. To breathe correctly, your stomach must go out when you are breathing in and come in while you are breathing out. A good way to observe this is to watch an infant or child sleep. You will see that they are breathing in that manner. A way to practice this technique is to place a book on your stomach and watch it go up and down to make sure you are breathing right.

Another way to deal with the symptom of feeling unable to breathe during an attack is to breathe through a straw. When feeling an attack come on or in the midst of one, grab a straw, plug your nose, and breathe through the straw just with your mouth. You will find at that point that it is very difficult to breath and your body will realize that you were breathing properly.

One last tip, which is my personal favorite, is the use of spearmint. Whether you are drinking tea or inhaling it, it naturally calms the symptoms. My favorite and probably easiest way to use spearmint is in gum. Not only will chewing spearmint gum calm you but it also gives your mouth the chewing action which takes your mind off of the anxiety or panic symptoms.

There are, of course, many other ways, but these are some that I have found to be very helpful. One thing to always remember if you are having panic or anxiety symptoms is to have a physician rule out anything physical.
