How to Paint a Bat Mask

    • 1). Remove any dirt or oil from the face using cosmetic sponges and cold cream. These can prevent the face paint from adhering well. Use a headband to hold your child's hair out of her face. If your child has long hair, tie it back in a ponytail to avoid getting paint in her hair.

    • 2). Use a thin round brush to paint a triangle from the bridge of the nose to the tip. This will become the bat's body.

    • 3). Paint a small circle between the eyebrows. Elongate the triangle as needed to attach it to the circle.

    • 4). Paint a long curve on either side of the face to form the sides of the bat wings.

    • 5). Connect the wings to the body. Paint a simple curved line from the top point of each wing to the point where the head and body of the bat intersect. If you want a more elaborate wing design, add a second point between the wing and body, just above the inside tip of the eyebrow. Your curved line will look like a wide curved "W." Repeat with the bottom tip of the wing, which should connect to the body just above the bottom of the triangle. Aim your curve around the bulb of the nose.

    • 6). Fill in the bat outline with additional black face paint.
