How to Hook Crawdad Jigs
- 1). Select a trailer to use. Most bass fishermen use either a plastic or pork chunk that has two small tails, or a three- to four-inch soft plastic crayfish.
- 2). Hold the jig upside down, so the skirt falls over the head and exposes the hook.
- 3). Slide the hook into the middle of the plastic or pork chunk, if that is what you are using. The flat side of the chunk should face backward. The chunk should rest in the bend of the hook.
- 4). Hold the crayfish bait so its claws hang downward, if you are using this type of trailer. Slide the hook point into the top of the bait and then thread the bait up the shank of the hook until the plastic is near the jig head. Push the hook point out of the bait, and then slide the plastic tight against the head of the jig. The plastic crayfish should be straight on the jig.
