How to Dress and Wear 80s Outfits

    • 1). Start with a color palette. You need bright colors in an 80s ensemble, and it is best if you work within the same spectrum. The fashion shades of the 1980s were bright, even garish.

    • 2). Put on an asymmetrical top. Cut off the neckline of a pre-owned, loud t-shirt to create an asymmetrical style.

    • 3). Don a shirt or sweater dress with shoulder pads as a substitute for any asymmetrical shirt.

    • 4). Put on acid washed jeans. Any color will work, but jeans should be tight in a straight or ankle cut.

    • 5). Put on a miniskirt as a replacement for the jeans. The skirt must be short, tight fitting, with colors that pop.

    • 6). Add a pair of tights or leggings with your miniskirt during the colder months of the year; options are endless - stick with your color palate and add either a solid, neon tight or a lacy/ printed tight.

    • 7). Accessorize with knee high socks scrunched toward the ankle, or leg warmers. Add several layers of neon, plastic beaded or platinum gold necklaces.

    • 8). Tease your hair or put hair in side ponytail, preferably with a scrunchie.
