    • 1). Put on an old shirt and cover it with a plastic cape or an old towel. Any clothing that your bleach solution or hair color comes in contact with will most likely be ruined. Put on colorist gloves as well. These gloves will protect your skin from the harsh effects of the bleach solution.

    • 2). Pour equal parts of peroxide and bleach in a disposable container and mix it to make a thick solution.

    • 3). Part your hair down the center, then divide each side of your hair horizontally into smaller sections and secure each with plastic claw-style hair clips.

    • 4). Apply the bleach evenly to each section of your hair with the hair color brush. Begin with the hair at the back of your head (since it's the darkest), and apply the bleach to the tips of your hair first, then up the strand toward the scalp.

    • 5). Cover your hair with a plastic cap and wait 15 to 30 minutes for the solution to work. Check the hair at the front of your head periodically to see the result. When these hairs look the right color, it's time to rinse.

    • 6). Rinse the solution from your hair and wash it with shampoo for color treated hair. Repeat the process, if needed, after a couple of days. Black hair often turns orange with the first bleaching, then yellow after the second. You may need to bleach your hair two or three times to remove the color.

    • 7). Apply the platinum hair color to your hair according to the instructions on the box. You should begin with the hair at the back of your head, applying to the tips first and then work your way toward your scalp, just as you did with the bleach.

    • 8). Massage the color into your hair to ensure that every hair is saturated. This will help you get an even end result. Wait for the color to process according to the instructions provided.

    • 9). Wash your hair thoroughly with shampoo and apply conditioner for color-treated hair. Rinse well.

Brush and blow dry your hair to see the actual results. Wet hair will look darker than dry hair.
