How to Reduce Red Hair Color With Ash
- 1). Choose a semi-permanent ash hair color that is a similar tone to your natural or pre-dyed hair color. You can also select an ash color that is darker or slightly lighter than your hair.
- 2). Mix the hair color ingredients together according to the manufacturer's directions.
- 3). Apply the hair color all over your hair, which should be unwashed and free of styling product, starting at the ends and working towards the roots. Make sure all of your strands are completely saturated.
- 4). Pile your hair on top of your head. If necessary, clip it loosely into place with a large hair clip. Allow the dye to process for the recommended amount of time.
- 5). Rinse the color out of your hair with cool water until the water runs clear. Squeeze the excess water out of your hair and apply color-safe conditioner from root to tip. Let the conditioner sit for about two minutes.
- 6). Rinse the conditioner out of your hair with cool water. Towel-dry your hair gently; then style as usual.
