Chesney Fans Go To The Finish Line For Tickets
n the latest of a long line of whacky Kenny Chesney stunts, a Utah radio station is mounting dachshund races to determine the winner of a pair of tickets to see Chesney's show there. The fastest dog wins the tickets for their proud owner. The local television station put the piece up on the satellite and it hit the air in Connecticut.
"Maybe not since the Parrotheads has there been an audience this out of control, this funny, this wild, but they're here -- and I am so glad they're mine.
You guys rock! Thanks for coming up with this stuff 'cause it does keep us smiling out here on the road, absolutely!"
Kilgore Released From Hospital
Marty Martel, President of MSP, Inc., tells AllAboutCountry that Merle Kilgore has been released from the hospital following open-heart surgery on May 19. Kilgore was hospitalized on May 13 after an MRI uncovered a collapsed vertebrae and blocked artery.
Kilgore, NSAI Hall of Fame member, is known for co-writing "Ring of Fire" with the late June Carter Cash, which became a signature song for the late Johnny Cash. In addition to his writing credits, Kilgore serves as Executive VP/Hank Williams Jr. Enterprises and personal manager to Hank Williams Jr.
Willie Nelson Has Successful Surgery To Relieve Carpal Tunnel
Resumes Touring July 3rd
Attempts at rest, splinting and medication to relieve symptoms of carpal tunnel earlier this month were not as effective as hoped, and last week Willie Nelson had an endoscopic carpal tunnel release operation to his left wrist. Â Norman P. Zemel, M.D., the orthopaedic hand surgeon at the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic in Los Angeles says, "the operation was successful and he no longer has numbness and tingling in the fingers of his left hand."
Taking some time off from touring to fully recover, Willie will be on the road again resuming dates starting on July 3rd in Roswell, NM. Â The next day the music legend will host his annual 4th of July Picnic concert event at The Stockyards in Ft. Worth, TX. Out of roughly 140,000 fans that will be attending this year's Meijer Country Stampede in Sparta, Kentucky, one in particular stands out to festival president, Wayne Rouse. The daughter of a local Corbin, Kentucky resident, Courtnie Allen, wrote to the festival chair with an emotional request on her mother?s behalf. Her mother, Patricia Allen, was diagnosed with breast cancer six years ago and metastatic liver cancer four years later, and she has since looked for inspiration and comfort in a familiar icon of strength?Reba McEntire.
