Experts have been playing with animation for years.
The idea of using a sequence of motion to create the illusion of a moving object is very exciting to some people, enticing them to make a career out of it.
There are many different forms of animation for those who are looking to become animators.
"Plain" animation, clay animation, and computer animation are the three different methods of animating techniques.
These are all essentially different forms of stop-motion animation.
2-D animation, drawn on cells, was once the most common type, however, 3-D was created using clay animation and is becoming increasingly more popular through computer animation.
Stop-motion animation, also known as motion capture and performance animation, is a method of animating puppets.
A photograph is taken of a puppet for every time their position changes to create the appearance of a fluid motion.
This helps make non-living objects truly come to life.
Stop-motion animation is the most complicated and time-consuming form of animation.
Rather than simply drawing the characters, they are physically constructed from scraps of material like wood, clay, and metal.
Different unique materials are used to create the appearance of certain scenery.
For example, water is made from hair gel, blood is created using cosmetic toothpaste, and the appearance of smoke is created from cotton wool.
Clay animation is a different type of stop-motion animation, often referred to as 3-D animation.
Objects are constructed from clay by first creating a skeleton out of materials like metal or wire.
This skeleton gives the object a solid and sturdy frame on which it can move.
The object is then covered with clay and placed in different positions, each minimally different from the last.
The different positions are then photographed and the photographs are run together to create the appearance of a moving 3-D object.
Computer animation is basically a digital version of stop-motion animation, also frequently referred to as CGI, or computer-generate imagery.
This type of animation offers the option of both 2-D and 3-D animation.
It uses graphic design programs on computers to create moving images.
These programs can be used to make an entirely animated scene, or create a realistic figure in a non-animated show or film.
Computer animation is utilized by placing an image on a computer screen and repeatedly replacing it with a new image that is similar but slightly different so that it gives the appearance of movement.
Understanding the different forms of animation is essential to anyone looking to make a career as an animator.
There are all kinds of methods that animators can use.
New methods are creating an increasingly lucrative business in the animating industry.
