How to Identify Airbrush Fittings

    • 1). Look at the fitting mouth. Identify the shape of the tip mouth. This is the best indication of the type of line that will be produced by using this fitting. For example, flat, thin tips will produce wide, thick lines, while pin-hole tips will produce thinner lines.

    • 2). Look at the fitting to find any markings that may indicate its size. These markings will often include the diameter of the line to be produced, such as .018 or .20.

    • 3). Look at the manufacturing stamp on the fitting. This will tell you who manufactured the tip, and if it can be used with your style of airbrush. Some tips are interchangeable on airbrushes, while others are to be used with a specific type. If you find that your tip fitting will not fit easily, do not force it onto the airbrush. Contact the manufacturer of the fitting to see what type of airbrush it is intended for.
