Del Sandeen has been styling hair from the age of 12 (maybe before if you count the bang-cutting incident when she was 4). She's worn several different colors and dozens of hairstyles since.
Del is a freelance writer who has always been intensely interested in hair. From a young age, she's read countless books about hair, including style guides and histories. She has worn relaxed hair, braid extensions, natural hair, various colors and has created her own natural hair recipes. In addition, she has experience styling natural and relaxed hair.
For me, the bottom line is always healthy hair. I believe women should have fun with their hair, but also know how to care for it themselves if they can't afford a salon visit or if that's simply their preference.
Because black hair has its own characteristics and needs, I want to give every woman the knowledge to make the most of what grows out of her head. It doesn't matter what texture you have. What matters is how you care for it. There is no "good" and "bad" hair. Healthy hair is always good!

F.A.Q.
What will I learn about black hair here?
Just about everything you ever wanted to know! Black hair includes a huge variety of hair textures, from wavy to curly to kinky. You'll learn about basic care, styling, chemical treatments, natural options, the right products and accessories to use. You can also view your favorite celebrities wearing the latest styles and find out how to recreate them.
What if I'm not black, but am caring for a child with black hair?
Then this is the site to visit. There are many white adoptive parents or parents of biracial children who don't know where to start when it comes to black hair. Take special note of the Children's Hair category, but enjoy the entire site as it's full of information on caring for black hair at any age.
I'm a hairstylist and would like photos of styles I've created on your site. Will you publish them?
We're always looking for styles to showcase, especially from talented stylists. If you've taken some photos yourself and/or you hold the copyright to the photos, email me at AboutBlackHair@gmail.com and we can take it from there.
