Best Way to Put on False Eyelashes
- 1). Choose your false eyelashes. If you want a dramatic look, choose long dark eyelashes that are somewhat stiff and fan out towards the outer corner of the eye. For a more subtle style, opt for shorter lashes with softer fibers. Another alternative is to apply individual lashes. These are available wherever false eyelashes are sold and give you the option to apply the individual lashes where your natural eyelashes may be sparse.
- 2). Trim your false eyelashes. Measure the lashes against your eyelid, if the lash is too long and extends beyond your natural lash line; trim it with a pair of sharp scissors. This would be a good time to check the length of the lashes as well. If the eyelashes are too long for your taste, trim the top. Be careful not to over trim them.
- 3). Clean your eyelid of any prior cosmetics then apply a thin line of your chosen eyeliner across the top lid, at the lash line. This will help conceal where the false eyelashes are attached.
- 4). Grasp the false eyelash with a pair of tweezers at the bristles. The lash band should be facing up and ready for the adhesive.
- 5). Apply a small amount of adhesive to a toothpick or the head of a pin. Using a smaller area like a toothpick will regulate how much adhesive you’re using. Run the tip of the toothpick or pin across the band of the false eyelash. This is where the eyelash will adhere to your lash line.
- 6). Gently press the band of the false eyelash as close to your natural lash line as you can. Start with the inner corner of the eye and work your way outward. Carefully use your fingers to smooth the lash band and hold the lash to your lid for 20 to 30 seconds, until the adhesive is set. It’s important that you apply the lash soon after using the adhesive, as it dries quickly.
- 7). Use an eyelash curler to curl the false eyelash with your natural lashes and apply mascara. This will give you a more natural and uniform look.
