Operating System

• Norton Security Suite is compatible with Windows 7 Starter Edition, Basic Edition, Premium Edition, Professional Edition and Ultimate Edition. It's also compatible with the Starter, Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate editions of Windows Vista. Both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Vista and Windows 7 will work.
  
  You may also install Norton Security Suite on Windows XP Home Edition, Professional Edition and 32-bit versions of XP Media Center Edition. Make sure you install the latest service packs and updates from Microsoft through Windows Update. If you're using Windows XP or earlier, navigate to update.Microsoft.com/windowsupdate/v6/. In Windows 7, update by clicking the "Start" button, "All Programs" and "Windows Update."
  
  

Web Browser, Email and Instant Messenger Clients

• You can use Norton Security Suite with 32-bit installations of Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 or later. Mozilla Firefox 2.0 and newer are also compatible. The security software works with any POP3 and SMTP email client, including Microsoft Outlook, Outlook Express and Mozilla Thunderbird.
  
  Norton Security Suite supports scanning in several instant messenger clients. It works with Yahoo Messenger 9.0 and later as well as versions 5.0 through 6.1, MSN Messenger 6.0 and newer, AOL Instant Messenger versions 4.7 through 5.9 and Trillian 3.1 or later.
  
  

CPU, RAM and Hard Drive

• You must have a 300MHz or faster CPU plus 256MB RAM. Norton recommends 512MB or more RAM for faster performance. Your computer also needs 300MB of available disk space.
  
  

Additional Requirements

• You need a CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive to install Norton. Make sure your computer has a video card and monitor that support an 800-by-600-pixel (Super VGA) or higher resolution.
  
  A high-speed Internet connection is necessary to utilize the online backup feature in Norton Security Suite, but a broadband connection is also useful for installing updates.
