When you find something bothers you, just try to reroute your attention to something else.

Consequently, a great way to control anxiety is to imagine yourself in a situation in which you are truly happy.
Try to remember a point of time in your life when you were happy, such as a vacation or a party.
Visualize yourself in the same situation all over again.
Visualization can really help cut down the negative feelings that are associated with an anxiety attack.
Some NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) experts even believe that you can permanently associate certain feelings with certain gestures.
Try to touch a particular part of your body when you are really happy (or visualizing yourself to be in that situation).
This could a simple gesture like touching the tip of your finger with your thumb.
If you keep on doing this every time you are happy (or imagining yourself to be happy), you will find that the mind starts associating the gesture with the feeling.
This can be of great help in controlling an anxiety attack at night as all you need to stop the negative feelings is to perform the gesture.
