- 1). Open your image editor and load the photo you want to edit.
- 2). Select the paintbrush tool from the toolbar. The tool icon looks like a real artist's paintbrush. Select brush size, weight, and opacity from the top of the screen. The size affects the width of the brush, the weight affects the brush's edges and the opacity affects how transparent the brush appears.
- 3). Choose the color you want by clicking the colored box, and selecting the color from the palette. Most techniques involve setting a low opacity and slowly building layers, like you would with a real brush. This helps the brush to interact with the colors around it and mix more naturally.
- 4). Perform the edits you want to your image. Common edits include using a white or black brush to help enhance highlights and shadows in specific areas of the picture. You can also use the brush to add designs, logos or signatures to different parts of your image.
