Do it Yourself Gutter Screen
- 1). Set leaf strainers into the tops of each downspout. Adjust the leaf strainer so that it fits snugly into the downspout by squeezing the tines of the leaf strainer together or pulling them apart.
- 2). Cut a strip of rolled leaf guard material with scissors to fit your gutter's length. Overlap two pieces by 1-inch if more than one strip is needed or at corners.
- 3). Lay the strip of leaf guard on top of the gutter. Slide the long edge of the leaf guard under the roof in between the roofing material and the building paper until the outer edge of the leaf guard is aligned with the outer edge of the gutter. Roll the leaf guard material into a tube and lay it in the gutter if you cannot slide the leaf guard under the roofing material. Notch the leaf guard so that it reaches over the gutter's hangers.
