- 1). Wash your hands completely, specifically focusing underneath your fingernails and around the cuticles. Use an antibacterial liquid soap, if available. Rinse with warm water and dry completely.
- 2). Remove any nail polish and as much nail glue as possible with fingernail polish remover or acetone if it is handy. If these are not available, pick away as much of the old glue and polish as possible or file it away with a nail file.
- 3). Push the cuticle back with a pointed cuticle stick to see as much as the natural curve of your fingernail as possible.
- 4). Create a base to apply your fake nails to by filing your fingernails down with an emery board to make them as smooth and even as possible.
- 5). Apply a layer of Super Glue or Crazy Glue to the underside of the fake nail and the top of your existing nail. Quickly manipulate the fake nail into place and press it firmly on the real nail until it adheres. This occurs in five to 10 seconds because the glue sets very quickly.
- 6). Trim the ends of the fake nails with a nail trimmer and file the nail to match your other nails. Repaint the nails that you replaced to match the other nails.
