How to Disable or Enable System Restore on Windows Vista
- 1). Click the "Start" button and select "Control Panel" to open a pop-up list of options.
- 2). Select "System and Maintenance" and then "System."
- 3). Click on "System Protection" in the left side of the pane. This opens your System Restore Settings window. You may be prompted to enter your administrator password if applicable.
- 4). Disable System Restore by removing all of the checks in the boxes next to your disks and clicking "OK." Finish disabling system restore by clicking "Turn System Restore Off" when your computer asks for confirmation.
- 5). Enable System Restore by adding checks in all of the boxes representing your computer's disks. Click "OK" to finish enabling system restore.
