- 1). Clip a ball troll rig to the loop on the back of your downrigger ball. The blades on a ball troll spin and attract fish with their flash and vibration.
- 2). Attach a harness or clip to the cable going up to the downrigger. This holds the fishing line at the correct depth. Use a small, light clip for landlocked salmon.
- 3). Attach the line holding the lure to the clip. You will need to experiment with the length of leader trailing behind the downrigger cable. The amount of leader will vary depending on the mood of the fish.
- 4). Tip the lure with a piece of sweet corn, a maggot or a nightcrawler for added attraction.
