Guide Review of Neutrogena Shine Control Liquid Makeup
Neutrogena in known as an affordable makeup and beauty line that cares about your skin while targeting your various needs. This California based company has been known for its foundation, making it one of the best foundations for drugstore brands.
Now they have a new line of shine control products, which can be perfect for oily and t-zone customers, and it can also work wonder for those that live in warmer climates or even for during the hot summer months when all of our skin tends to go oilier. Their new line offers a makeup primer, foundation, and powder. To kick off the reviews of the new line we tested the Shine Control Primer first, and now we are moving on to the liquid makeup. We loved the makeup primer, so let’s find out how the foundation worked out!
To begin, I tested the product over several days with a break in-between in order to ensure there were no allergic reactions to the formula and ingredients. I did not have any reaction, so that was a big plus. So let’s move on to the texture and wearability. Overall the feel of the foundation was night and silky when applying it, and then once it dried to a matte finish it felt very lightweight on the skin and almost non-existent. The coverage was very good, evening out my skin tone without looking cakey or fake. Since it does dry to a matte finish I was somewhat concerned that it may be too drying since I only have slight t-zone oil, but it stayed comfortable and very natural looking throughout the entire day. It also kept any shine and oil at bay for well over the 8-hour mark, without touching up or reapplying. The only negative is that it may not be a great choice for a mature skin, especially since your skin tends to need more moisture and lifting after a certain age.
The shading for me ended up being one of the lightest shades, but they have eight to choose from and they range in pink undertones and yellow undertones. The addition of SPF20 was a plus since the Shine Control Primer did not contain a SPF. The only other negative was by hour 9 or 10 I could see the foundation settling into the pores on my nose, ever so slightly. It did last for the 8-hour period, just as Neutrogena had stated so that’s a big bonus. Overall I really like the foundation, and I think it is a great affordable choice for teens, twenty year-olds, and even those in their thirties. Any age older may be pushing the boundaries of the need for more moisture and firming properties.
The Bottom Line for Neutrogena Shine Control Liquid Makeup
It’s hard to find a good oil-control foundation for under $30, but thanks to Neutrogena we now have a very affordable option that controls oil and looks great while doing it.
