      Recycling household trash into fun crafts is something that every family should do. Kids love to make fun crafts, using their creativity to make something new and uniquely theirs. Recycling common trash is a great way to help the Earth by reducing waste. Used paper can be reused into fun new crafts with a little creativity and patience, and a lot of help from crafts-loving kids!

    Newspaper Crafts

      Old newspapers can be reused in so many fun and interesting ways. For as long as there have been newspapers, kids have been folding them into paper hats, paper boats and paper kits. Craft website Make-Stuff also suggests that kids can paint newspaper to use it as wrapping paper for gifts. This is a great way to personalize any gift and it's something that kids of all ages can do. Newspapers can also be ripped into strips to use for paper mache projects.

    Cardboard Crafts

      Cardboard is a sturdy, thick paper that can be reused in a variety of ways for fun recycled crafts. The website Kaboose shows several fun craft ideas to reuse cardboard of all sizes. Adults can cut an empty cereal box at an angle then let kids decorate it with paint, markers, and crayons. This can be used as a magazine holder, or to hold bills and other important papers. Strips of cardboard can be cut and decorated and used as bookmarks by kids. Older children can also use the front and back of an empty cereal box to make a unique, and recycled, scrapbook for their favorite photos. Kids can use a hole punch then tie these pieces together with sheets of blank paper in between and decorate however they want.

      The pages of magazines can also be reused in a fun craft project for kids. Adults can help younger children cut out pictures and glue them onto a sheet of cardboard to make a fun collage. Free Kids Crafts suggests that children roll strips of magazine paper and glue them shut to make recycled beads for necklaces and jewelry. Magazine pages can also be folded accordion style into fun and interesting flower crafts.

Kids can cut images from the front of their favorite cards and glue them to pieces of festive paper. For a very recycled craft, kids can use leftover wrapping paper in this craft. Free Kids Crafts suggests that kids use greeting cards to make personalized placemats to use at the table. Also, kids can cut images from the cards and make square shaped collages. Parents can then laminate the collages with contact paper to hold it together and waterproof.
