Basic Eligibility

  • To be eligible for the rent rebate tax program, you must be 65 or older; live with a spouse who is 65 or older; you are a widow or widower and are 50 or older; or you were permanently disabled and are 18 or older, were unable to work due to the disability -- physical or mental -- and the disability is expected to continue indefinitely. As a renter, your total eligible household income, including that of your spouse, cannot exceed $15,000. Eligibility income may not include all of your Pennsylvania taxable income. You must have rented and lived in a house, apartment, nursing home or boarding home, paid rent and had a landlord that paid property taxes.
