- 1). Measure your braided leather by placing it around your neck and letting it hang on your chest. Typically, you want your tie to be 1/4 the distance from your neck to your waist. Cut your braided cord to the appropriate length.
- 2). Choose a plain slider that you like from any jewelry or craft store.
- 3). Fold the leather cord so that it looks like an inverted "U." Thread the left end of the cord through the left side of the slider. Then thread the right end of the cord through the right end of the slider. Hold both ends of the cord taut with one hand as you pull up on the slider with your other.
- 4). Place the tie around your neck and slide the slider up to the collar of your shirt.
- 5). Add a small amount of jewelry glue to the outside of your slider, if you prefer more decoration. Pick up each turquoise stone and place it on the glue. Tweezers may help you grab smaller stones. Turquoise is the stone traditionally worn on a bolo slider; however any gem, stone or jewel that you like will work. You can place a large turquoise in the middle of the slider with smaller ones surrounding it, or you can arrange them in any order that you choose. Allow at least two hours for the glue to completely dry before wearing.
