How to Make a Lanyard Using a Thread Spool

    • 1). Cut 1 1/2 yards of each color of ultra suede thread. Fold each strand of thread in half so that on one end you have a loop and the other end, two loose strands.

    • 2). Hold both strands by their loop ends. This is also the center of each strand. Form a "t" shape with the two strands by overlapping them at their centers. The vertical strand should be underneath the horizontal strand.

    • 3). Loop the bottom section of the vertical strand up and over the horizontal strand. Loop what was previously the top section of the "t" down over the horizontal strand.

    • 4). Loop the left hand strand over the first loop and insert it under the second loop. Loop the right hand strand over the first loop and under the second loop. Pull all four strands into a snug knot.

    • 5). Repeat Step 4 until your lanyard is of the desired length. Tie the two ends of your lanyard together in a knot.

    • 6). Slip a key ring onto one of the ultra suede loops at the starting point of your lanyard.
