- 1). Mark the outline of the camouflage pattern on the peaked hat using a dark green, brown or black fabric marker. Use lighter shades of the same color as well as other earthy colors like tan, brown, and grey to shade in the wavy design of the camouflage. Let the fabric marker dry.
- 2). Wash the cap in the washing machine and tumble-dry it to fade the fabric and camouflage pattern a little. This will give the hat a genuine, worn-in look.
- 3). Place your military cloth patch in the center of the hat above the peak. Using a needle and thread, sew the patch into the cap. Military star patches, badges and red stars are popular patch choices for military caps.
