The different effects could include muscular fatigue, mental fatigue, being unable to sleep, and/ or hallucinations.
However, people suffering from chronic insomnia tend to remain alert.
Certain people with this disorder have also complaint of being able to see things occurring in slow motion and moving objects tend to look as if they have been combined together.
This disorder may lead to double vision.
It is important to have a good night's sleep in order to remain fit and be able to function optimally.
The symptoms of insomnia will vary with the cause.
Drowsiness during the day is a common symptom of insomnia.
It may result in accidents, lower rate of concentration, motor vehicle collision and a lot of other mistakes.
Quality of life may also be impacted due to fatigue, irritability.
You may not be able to perform actions effectively and your ability to engage in activities at home, work and school may be reduced.
The diagnosis procedure of insomnia begins with finding the cause of insomnia.
For this, a thorough medical history of the patient is analyzed which will include sleep pattern history, and a full physical examination.
Sometimes tests may also be conducted to detect the underlying causes of insomnia which may include hyperthyroidism, other sleep disorders and obstructive sleep apnea.
The causes of insomnia could include the following medical conditions.
You should consult your doctor and he/she will be able to find the cause for you on the basis of your symptoms: •Problems in the sleep environment.
•Noise around your room.
•Extreme temperatures: Very cold or very hot bedroom.
You may not be able to sleep since your body is not comfortable with the temperature you are in.
Sometimes stuffy rooms can also be the problem.
Since you are not able to breathe properly, you may be waking up too many times during the night.
•Condition of mattress: Very hard or soft mattress.
