    • 1). Look for longer jackets that reach past you buttocks and touch the top of your thigh. These jackets will conceal unwanted areas within the tummy, back and buttocks. In addition, the jacket will create the illusion of a slimmer torso because it elongates the body. Long jackets can be worn with jeans or slacks.

    • 2). Pair monochromatic colors together to give the illusion of a slimmer torso. Suits are an excellent example of monochromatic color pairing; blacks, grays, navy and nude are ideal choices to wear for the entire body. Look for jackets that reach your hips for the best effect. If the jacket must be shorter, consider wearing it open in the front with a semi-snug shirt in a similar color underneath.

    • 3). Wear a wrap jacket to slim your torso and create a waistline. Look for jackets in darker colors that reach to the hips or top of the thighs. Most wrap jackets contain one long ribbon and a short ribbon on the side. One side of the jacket is tucked under the other side and the ribbon is pulled through a small slit. Wrap the ribbon around your body and tie.

    • 4). Leave a blazer with clean lines open in the front and pair a V-neck shirt underneath. In addition, wear the blazer with dark jeans and heels. This ensemble will draw the eye downward and create a slimming effect for your body.

    • 5). Pair an A-line dress with a cropped jacket that has clean lines and no collar. The jacket will naturally swing open to reveal the dress underneath and give the illusion of a slimmer torso. A-line dresses cinch at the waist, which adds to the slimming effect. Pair the look with heels.

    • 6). Wear an open mid-length jacket with high-waisted jeans for a trendy style. If high waists are not your look, pair the jacket with a shirt that contains a belt underneath the jacket. This will give the illusion of a slimmer waistline.
