How to Make T-Shirts Into Halters
- 1). Pick your T-shirt. Shirts that do not have a front design will work best as you will be cutting the front in half. Lightweight tees are also preferable, since you will most likely be wearing the halter in warmer weather.
- 2). Cut off the neck and arms. Snip around the T-shirt's collar, cutting off the ring that usually tops off the neck area. Cut off the sleeves by following along just below the seam at the armholes.
- 3). Cut a slit down the front center of the shirt. Cut in a straight line from the top center of your new neckline to the bottom of the shirt.
- 4). Stretch the ends of the shirt. Grasp one corner of the bottom edge of the front cut and gently pull the shirt to create a bit more length. Repeat on other side. T-shirts are usually stretchy and this will make the edges easier to tie together.
- 5). Put it on. Slide the shirt over your arms, with the front center cut front and center. Take one corner from each side edge and pull them together, flattening the shirt taut around your back and chest. Tie the edges together in a bow or knot.
