- 1). Lay the Dacron line and 24 to 36 inches of leader material -- monofilament or fluorocarbon line work well -- on a hard surface so they are parallel to one another. The two lines should overlap by 12 inches, and face the opposite direction from each other.
- 2). Wrap the Dacron line around the leader line six times. Pick up the end of the Dacron and thread it through the loop where the two lines cross.
- 3). Wrap the leader line around the Dacron line six times. Pick up the end of the leader line and thread it through the loop where the two lines cross.
- 4). Pull on the two tag ends of line at the same time to tighten the knot.
- 5). Cut off any extra line beyond the knot.
