Soldier Fuel

The HOOAH! Bar is a treat meant to give soldiers in training or combat an energy boost while on the move. The bar is often packaged with field rations but can also be provided to soldiers on its own. The term "HOOAH!" or "OOO-RAH" is a battle cry that is popular with American soldiers and was popularized by actor Al Pacino in the 1992 movie "Scent of a Woman."


The wrappers for the HOOAH! Bar contain both spellings of the war cry as well as the U.S. Army and U.S. Marine Corps seals. The HOOAH! Bar is often referred to as "soldier fuel." A commercial version of the energy bar called "Soldier Fuel" is also sold to civilians.

Different Flavours

HOOAH! Bars have come in a variety of different flavours ranging from apple-cinnamon and chocolate to peanut butter and mocha. The popular energy bar first entered service with the U.S. military in 1996. In 2004, the U.S. military updated the bars to provide more energy and calories to hungry soldiers who need to eat while working and in physically demanding situations. The latest version of the HOOAH! Bar provides nearly 300 calories, has 10 grams of protein, nine grams of fat and 40 grams of carbohydrates.
