Spyder Cold Air Intake Cp-450R Installation
- 1). Raise the Ford Focus' hood and locate the stock air intake. It mainly consists of a rubber hose connected to the engine's throttle body and an air box attached near the top of the engine compartment. Raise the car on a jack stand at the side where the intake is. Disconnect the battery's negative cable as a precaution.
- 2). Detach the original air intake system from the Focus. Disconnect the clamps attaching the rubber hose to the engine throttle body. Remove the screws fastening the air box onto the fender well. Disconnect all wires and remove the assembly, including the hose, air box and resonator.
- 3). Connect the Spyder cold intake system's upper tube to the throttle body at the original tube's port, using the included urethane connector and clamps. This tube is bent in a slight L-shaped pattern. When properly attached, this tube should route over and through the Focus' engine toward the fender near the wheel well.
- 4). Feed the lower tube up through the engine compartment underneath the upper tube's open end. The end of this tube that is sharply bent at the end should connect with the other tube. Attach the air filter to the lower end of the lower tube and connect the two tubes together with their clamps.
- 5). Secure the lower tube within the engine compartment using a flange and large nut. Connect the wires for the intake to the connector ports on the upper tube.
